The Dolder Grand, Zurich

The «The Dolder Grand» is among the leading luxury hotels worldwide. Situated high above Zurich in a privileged location, the five-star hotel with 19 Gault-Millau points is well-known around the world. Norman Foster’s conversion of the historic castle-like building and the addition of two modern wings have given the property a new dimension that reflects its exclusive appeal. Extending over more than 40’000 m², the hotel boasts 175 rooms as well as a 4000 m² spa area.

The outdoor lighting for the generous grounds with their old and new buildings required a nuanced concept to meet both functional and atmospheric requirements. Inside, the lighting concept was individually configured for the lobby, four gourmet restaurants, corridors, conference rooms, ball room and extensive spa area. The result was a comprehensive light architecture that pays just as much attention to structural conditions, functional requirements, materials and surfaces as it does to atmosphere and emotional impact.
