Rolex Learning Center, Lausanne

The Japanese architect firm SANAA has joined forces with the Rolex Learning Center to realise an experimental building at the heart of the EPFL Campus. Thanks to the parallel waving lines of roof and floor, the rectangular layout covering an area of 20’200 m² appears light and dynamic, lending the open structure an extraordinary fluidity.

Light is the fourth architectural dimension of the Rolex Learning Center and forms an integral part of the structure: Radiating outwards from the interior, it emphasises the sculptural character of the building. Together, architecture and light form a powerful aesthetic unit.
